Quiet. Noise.

She sits alone

Tapping her shoe
The quiet noise
That no knew

No one knows
A thing about her

They think they do
But they doubt her

Masking her fidget
Squirming subtle

Silent contents
Inner struggle

A slight smile
Loss of thought

Such a trial!
And still not caught…

And yet again
She taps her shoe

Quiet, noisy
But subtle too

They stop to look
Then shift their gaze

She’s far too smart
To be that way

Summed up
As simply a fluke

A nervous moment
It’s kind of cute…

She wonders if
She screamed aloud

Would they hear?
Are they too proud?

And in defeat
She taps her shoe

Quiet, noisy
Demanding truth

She lifts her head
And looks around

Standing up
On shaky ground

No one sees her
They look right by

All she can think
to scream is, “WHY?!”

Then sits back down
In her chair

Her shoe has
Gotten comfortable there

Without a look
She taps her shoe

Quiet, noisy, and….furious too.
